Questions

How does the test work? +

Your phone downloads and uploads small files from Cloudflare's network, the closest server to you, and measures how fast they go. Ping is how long a tiny request takes to get there and back; jitter is how much that time varies.

Why is my speed lower than my plan promises? +

Speed changes with signal strength, how busy the cell tower is, and whether you're inside a building. Run the test in a few places to see the difference.

Does the test use my data? +

On mobile data, about 50 to 150 MB depending on your speed. On Wi-Fi the test uses bigger files so a fast line can reach full speed. On a small plan, run it only when you need to.

What do you do with my result? +

We add it, anonymously, to our statistics of network quality by country and operator. We don't store your IP address or anything that identifies you.
